Thank you for participating in our 35th annual derby. Lots of pike qualified, 37, but none of the big boys showed up this year. The winning fish caught by GARY BILTON of Mississauga was 29 1/4" compared to 40 3/4' last year. We know that there are lots of fish in Belwood Lake, and that bodes well for next year.
We want more kids to come out and enjoy the event. This year all eight and under entered for free, and all were guaranteed a prize. We had some very happy little ones once they chose their prize. Photos of the kids are attached, and will be on our website
Our 36th Annual Pike Derby will be held on May 28/29, 2016, as always on the weekend following the Victoria Day holiday. Details will be posted on line at our home page http://www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/belwood/ and www.belwoodlionspikederby.org.
We now have four ways to register for next year's event: on line, in store ticket sales at select Sports stores and at Belwood Country Market, mail in either using one of our flyers or downloading a form off our website, or at Belwood Hall during the Derby.
We always offer a great Early Bird prize, Wayne Mills of Brampton was this year's winner of a six hour fishing charter with Myles Ahead Sportfishing out of Oakville. Both on line and instore registration will allow you to sign up earlier next year and have a chance at another great prize.
Some are concerned about give their email address. We guarantee that we will not share your information with anyone. Our purpose is twofold in electronically contacting you. We want to keep you informed, and we want to minimize the postage costs of reaching you. Each flyer envelope we replace with email saves us over one dollar. Those savings go toward charity donations and the prize table which was very substantial this year.
Special thanks to all of our suppliers and sponsors. We could not do this without them. If you know someone who could support us financially or with product, please let us know. All money raise after our basic expenses, hall rental, printing, postage, and prize purchases goes directly to charitable causes. As Lions we receive no remuneration for our work. We're volunteers and we're glad to make an enjoyable weekend for you and raise benefits for the community.
Stay safe and we'll see you next year.
