Belwood Lions Pike Derby 2025

Belwood Lions 43nd Annual Pike Derby is over!

See below and check back as we update with further photos and stories from this years derby

Belwood Lions Pike & Walleye Derby is over for another year.

Thank you once again to all the sponsors and volunteers and mostly to you the anglers who come out year after year.

We accomplished alot of good for our communities this weekend.
We had a $10,000 donation to Groves Hospital & Foundation for emergency medical equipment.
We had a donation presentation of $2,500 for Lions Foundation Dog Guides.
We had an excellent BBQ from local kids camp Camp Bellaleo - formerly Camp Nokomis raising funds to send kids to camp.
We supported new lure company startup Luven get some sales and promotion to help these young lads on their business journey. We had amazing sponsors who not only donated funds and prizes but also helped to volunteer.
We had some great suggestions from our anglers to make the competition better.

As for the Derby, it was a challenging one this year. We got off to a great start and Saturday morning the Leaderboard filled up very quickly, then things just seemed to stall..fish were coming in but the top slots just held. With the rain and cloud then sun, the anglers were changing up lures and bait, and moving all around the lake, but the fish were alluding them. The die-hard anglers stuck it out throughout, expressing frustration along the way, but those that stayed saw the adult pike winner come in on Sunday.

We had some great raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw at the awards.

We really do admire and thank all the anglers for their generosity and realizing all the proceeds go back directly into the community. You all contribute to being part of a successful event. It's not JUST about the fishing 😀.

Thank you and hope to see you next year 23/24 May 2026

As announced, we continue our ongoing donations annually to Groves Hospital. Last year we pledged $10,000 for a 10mm telescope to support laparoscopic surgery, this year we pledged a further $10,000 for an Accuvein vein finder to be used in th emergency department to locate veins in adults, youth, seniors and infants to ease needle and IV insertions in patients. Thanks to the sponsors and the anglers, we again met our pledge.

See the leaderboard below for Derby winners and below for our draw winners

Thank you and see you in 2026

Look out for details of our 44th Pike Derby next year May 23/24 2026.

Belwood Lions are are very proud to announce that after discussions with Groves Memorial Hospital, we selected a Accivein vein finder for GMCH. as our goal for this years Pike Derby ($10,000 cost). See the flyer for more information about GMCH  and Belwood Lions support towards Groves.

We sincerely thank every Pike Derby participant and every sponsor for your tremendous support in making this donation possible to help ease the comfort of all GMCH patients.
